Days out - Charlestown and a Mystery

This afternoon Guy and I headed down to Charlestown where they have been filming the new Poldark series.  I was hoping to catch a glimpse of Aidan Turner who will be playing the brooding Ross Poldark - alas filming finished on Monday and the actors and film crew are off to the next location.  We quelled our disappointment with a delicious ice cream from the award winning Tall Ships Creamery and sat overlooking the goings on in the harbour.

There seemed to be a great deal of excitement about the boat pictured below - turns out it is the 'Spirit of Mystery' which Pete Goss sailed from Cornwall to Australia in, retracing the journey of seven Cornishmen over 150 years ago.

The excitement grew as it was revealed that she was just about to set out to sea and so the gate to the harbour was to be lowered, something I've never seen happen before.

Guy and I hung around and watched it all happening and filmed it to share with you ....

As we walked back up to the car we noted that some of the cottages were getting a lick of paint, no doubt in readiness for the summer season as most of the cottages around the harbour are holiday lets.  We noted a cottage for sale a couple of doors up from these - a quick 'google' informs me it can be yours for £525,000!

So our disappointment was quickly quashed - there's always something going on in Charlestown!

Farm Friends - Ducklings down on the pond

I have been meaning to post photos of the new ducklings down on the pond for some time.  Despite being only two weeks old they have grown tremendously in that time.  We have added the ducklings to the daily feeding routine so guests can enjoy these little cuties.
