Around the farm - Update on the Vegetable Garden

As promised please find below an update on the vegetable garden.  A mixture of sunshine and showers has been perfect growing conditions for the vegetable garden (and unfortunately the weeds too).

Farm Friends - An unusual visitor to the farm

Here at Poltarrow we are of course used to welcoming visitors from all around the world.  This week a rather different kind of visitor has come to stay.  As some of you will know Peter has a herd of Red Ruby Devon cattle.  He has been wanting to breed from his pedigree cows for some time so after consulting with some breeders at the county agricultural show earlier in the month we made arrangements for 'Jimmy B' to visit.

Jimmy B comes from a farm just over the border in Devon and will be staying with us for a couple of months.

The ladies are a bit indifferent at first but soon warm up to Jimmy B!

All being well Jimmy B's visit now will mean new baby calves in the spring.  And while we are on the topic of new life my absence from this blog can be blamed on the arrival of our first grandchild Guy, born on 7 May and weighing 7lb 3 3/4 - a very welcome addition to our family.
